The T-Shirt Contest
This design was created for the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) student chapter at the University of Wisconsin–Madison as part of a t-shirt design contest to sell for fundraising. Inspired by UW-Madison’s strong sense of student pride and integral community, the final design celebrates the essence of being a UW badger through its color palette and school symbolism.
What makes it truly “Wisconsin?”
The bold red, white, and black color scheme reflects the university’s official colors, while the WI state silhouette anchors the composition at the center. Surrounding the silhouette are patterns derived from the iconic Memorial Union Terrace chairs, which are an unmistakable symbol of campus life and creativity. Together, these elements merge strong Wisconsin symbols to create a cohesive visual identity that any UW-Madison student would want to show off with pride.
